About Company

Wesseler stands for progress

The politician Kassing could hardly believe his eyes. Already at the Melle-Gesmold motorway exit, he saw three container vehicles pointing the way on the green meadow. After that he only saw signal red. Because that is the color of the company logo and that is how the new, imposing, three-story company building shines from a distance.

"We needed exactly 286 days for the new building"reports Heinz Wesseler, the head of the company, who is the third generation to run the waste disposal company founded by Josef Wesseler in 1963. The new building has a floor area of around 4,000 square meters. Inside there is a sorting hall on the one hand, and the company's entire administration on the other. Everything is barrier-free and designed to be handicapped accessible with an elevator. In addition, a certified training room and overnight accommodation for up to five employees were created at the same time.

Wesseler has been known as a specialist in demolition and civil engineering since the beginning. There are now 50 employees in the earthworks and demolition division. The company has a modern machine park that includes all types of excavators, bulldozers and shredder systems for recycling construction waste. This means that the necessary special equipment is available for all areas of civil engineering, from digging a construction pit to laying sewer pipes. The offer is rounded off by the building materials trade, which ranges from sand and topsoil to processed special products.

However, Wesseler's main business is the collection and disposal of used tires and all other rubber products. The shortest logistics cycles are guaranteed, because the collective container can be exchanged within 24 hours if required. In Germany there are 560,000 tons of used tires every year. Wesselers Containertransporte collect and process 120,000 tons across Germany and Europe.

This makes Wesseler the largest scrap tire disposal company in Germany.

Today, Wesseler's customers include all of the Continental Group's plants in Germany and abroad, the six Goodyear-Dunlop plants in Germany and two other plants of the US group in France and the Netherlands. In addition, dealers such as Reifen Ehrhardt (29 branches), Reifen Günther (23 NL) or Emigholz (16 NL) as well as Euromaster (40 branches), First Stop (30 NL) and Vergölst (180 branches) are among the Wesseler customers .

"Always think ahead and be at the cutting edge of technology"

This has been Wesseler's successful business principle for almost 50 years.

History

The company history at a glance

1965 When the A 30 motorway from Bruchmühlen to Melle was being built in 1965, Josef Wesseler bought his first larger machine, a Deutz brand caterpillar, with which it all began.

The modern company can now look back on over 50 years of tradition.
The head office is located in Melle, Lower Saxony, near Osnabrück.

1968 In 1968 the business was expanded to include skip transport and waste disposal.

1976 A few years later, fate and entrepreneurship led to further diversification; because 1976 came the global oil shock. But an opportunity arose from the crisis.
The circumstances led to an inquiry from Zementwerke Dyckerhoff AG as to whether Wesseler could also obtain larger quantities of old tires as secondary fuel. The company could!

Solid business relationships with the tire industry developed from initial contacts with Uniroyal. Today Wesseler works as a waste management company for Continental in particular - not only for the whole of Germany, but also across the Benelux to France. The major customers also include Goodyear / Dunlop (Hanau) as well as Fulda and Pneumant in Riesa and Fürstenwalde.
It is crucial that in addition to all categories of old tires, any other rubber product can be disposed of. On top of that, Wesseler guarantees the shortest possible cycles in logistics. A container exchange can be completed within less than 24 hours.

Throughput in the rubber sector totaled 90,000 tons in 2010, of which around 40,000 tons were accounted for by tires alone. Recyclable casings are retreaded. The remaining quantities are used, e.g. thermally as heating material or in the construction of sports facilities. Wesseler relied on modern technology and invested in a total of seven state-of-the-art and high-performance shredder systems with which granulation of grain sizes of up to 10 mm is possible.

1990 New branches were established in the early 1990s. The other locations are Ostercappeln-Venne and Kroppenstedt near Magdeburg.

1980 Heinz Wesseler's sister Beate has been head of accounting in the company since 1980. Her two sons Sebastian and Marc are being prepared for future tasks.

1985 The current boss, Heinz Wesseler, is a trained wholesale and retail salesman and joins the family business in 1985 after completing his military service.

1993 Since freight transport was always a central issue, the decision was made to acquire its own forwarding agency in 1993. The purchase of a high-performance haulage company with appropriate storage capacity created the basis for professional expansion of the transport area. Since then, complete logistics with on-time delivery of goods has also been one of the service focuses at Wesseler.

In 1993, the official certification as a waste tire disposal company by the TÜV followed.

2002 Sebastian started his apprenticeship as office clerk at the company in 2002, which he successfully completed in 2004 and is currently employed as operations manager in Melle, Auf dem Platen 1. His younger brother Marc started an apprenticeship as a car mechatronics technician in an external Scania authorized workshop in 2005, which he successfully completed in January 2009 and is now supporting the senior manager in Kroppenstedt.
The in-house youngsters are continuously promoted and developed by a far-sighted company boss so that they can later take on important tasks in the company.

Heinz Wesseler attaches great importance to the fact that the company is always technically up-to-date and has decided to change brands, especially for the vehicles due to the fuel consumption.
The toll and the rising diesel prices can be clearly felt. With an annual consumption of around 2.5 million liters, fuel is a significant cost factor.
At Wesseler in the Teutoburg Forest, the mix is right - regardless of whether it concerns the business calculation, the material products or the extensive range of products.
When it comes to professional rubber disposal, Wesseler in Melle and Kroppenstedt are in the very best of hands.
