SUSTAINABILITY - EVERYTHING IN KEEPING WITH NATURE
WE TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR PEOPLE AND THE ENVIRONMENT
For us, sustainability is, so to speak, our core business - because with almost all the services we provide, we conserve resources or help to keep environmental pollution as low as possible. We take on ecological, but also economic and social responsibility - in every area of our daily work.
Disposal is resource conservation
We offer a complex system for recording material flows in Oberhausen. The concentration on the urban area and the exact local knowledge provide a reliable database on which our computer-aided tour planning and the container stands selected based on the reality of life are based. This enables the complete collection of numerous recyclable materials and offers the citizens every incentive to separate the recyclable materials in their households and to recycle them.
Urban drainage is water protection
Land, air and water are our natural foundations of life, which must be protected according to all the rules of the art. That is why urban drainage is also water protection. We collect the wastewater, feed it to the water associations and cooperatives, from where it flows after treatment into the Ruhr and Emscher rivers. This demanding task is only possible with the proper maintenance and upkeep of the sewer network, including rainwater retention basins and pumping stations. But the effort is worth it, because this is how we guarantee water protection in the long term.
Roads and canal construction with a system
We also pay attention to the use of ecological processes and materials in the construction, maintenance and cleaning of Oberhausen's road and sewer network. Without losing sight of the right balance in terms of the costs involved.
Energy management Energy
saving begins with each individual. For this reason, we have switched all of the lighting at the central depot to modern LED technology. Many of our machines are already powered by batteries and computers and monitors also save energy. The WBO employees also use specific information to ensure that you save energy yourself. So that it stays that way in the future, we have our mobility checked annually in an energy audit.
We use electric vehicles not only in the vehicle pool, but also in operational use in the companies. In addition, e-bikes will take over the short distances to the quarters in the future, so that cars can stop completely. From 2020, gas-powered garbage trucks will be used for waste disposal in order to save diesel and thus also CO 2 .
