During Northwest Ohio's oil and gas boom, R. G. Stitt saw the need to give families of Waterville the opportunity to cook, light and heat their homes with natural gas and founded The Waterville Gas Company in 1888.
Today, the company provides natural gas to residential, commercial and industrial customers along the historic Maumee River Valley. Serving customers in the Village of Waterville and portions of Middleton, Monclova, Perrysburg and Waterville townships, The Waterville Gas Company offers competitive rates. Natural gas is the cleanest, cheapest and most efficient fuel source available.
As the oldest family-owned utility in the state of Ohio, the company is owned and operated by R.G.s great grandsons. Robert Stitt Black serves as president and Todd Black, Robert's son and fifth generation of the family, serves as secretary-treasurer.
