History

The beginnings

Joan Cirera i Campas founded the company Cirera in 1964. His activity was combined between the recycling of cardboard, scrap metal and glass and the home collection of Parets del Vallès.

In the beginning, the service was carried out with a tractor and a trailer, later it acquired an Ebro truck that the people of the village of Parets del Vallès and the people who knew it called it “Pipi-rana”. Apparently, this name came to him by the resemblance of the truck in a frog and that was always touching the horn.

Joan Cirera together with his children, from 1964 to 1979, collected door to door, the waste of Parets del Vallès, a technique that over the years was lost throughout Catalonia and now is recovering to facilitate selective collection and thus increase the percentage of recycling. As in so many things, we are going back to the origins, it is clear that our grandparents did not do so badly
