About Todd Walton
Although the hot rod and classic car industry has had many known “drivers” over the decades including such big names as Ed Moss (Total Cost Involved), Pete Chapouris (So-Cal Speed Shop), Boyd Coddington (American Hot Rod), and Roy Brizio (Roy Brizio Street Rods), it is actually the dozens of long time innovators that are the foundation of the industry. Although he has had his share of time in the limelight, it is through hard work and delivering consistent results that Todd Walton has proven over time that he is one of the true, consistent innovators and leaders in the classic car industry.
Todd’s love for classic cars started like most young boys building models and reading Hot Rod Magazine, but he also had the benefit of a father and brothers who were always tinkering with and building classic cars. And that common family thread lives on today – here Todd is seen alongside the family’s 1938 Chevy Coupe (a car that has been a labor of love and joint family project for years).
Todd learned fast and built his first project truck at the age of 16. He was able to turn his hobby/passion into a career in 1984 when he landed a job at TCI (Total Cost Involved) and quickly worked his way up the ranks from customer service and tech support to product development, research and design. During his tenure at TCI, Todd was involved in 7 high profile build projects, 5 of which ended up on the covers of high visibility industry magazines including Street Rodder and Rod and Custom. Although he enjoyed his years of success at TCI, Todd yearned to have more free reign and innovate. It was his passion to create ground breaking new products that led him to start his own custom fabrication and product development business, Walton Fabrication, in 1998.
Although the focus of Walton Fabrication has been the manufacturing of turnkey product solutions, along the way Todd has amassed an impressive resume of building dozens of complete classic car and truck restorations. Both Todd’s work on project cars, as well as his technical expertise on performing how-to and installation articles have landed him as an authority in many popular industry magazines including Street Rodder, Rod and Custom, Trucking, Custom and Classic Trucks and Custom Rodder. Todd has also worked on high profile projects with legends such as Pete Chapouris of So-Cal Speed Shop in their development of the famous “Step Box” ’32 Ford Chassis.
Today, Todd enjoys running Walton Fabrication with his wife Debbie who manages the front office operations, and has numerous new product ideas on the drawing board and in various stages of commercial production.
