Why Vibro-Acoustics
Consulting engineers need practical solutions to noise, vibration and restraint design problems. Contractors need suppliers with project management capability to ensure the lowest installed cost. Owners need quiet buildings – guaranteed.
More than 50 years of experience have taught Vibro-Acoustics even the best HVAC noise and vibration control products can do more harm than good when improperly applied. For that reason, Vibro-Acoustics focuses first and foremost on the proper application of our wide range of products. Rather than merely standing behind our products’ catalog ratings, we provide guarantees for the end result—the occupied space sound criteria.
We deliver these results by working closely with HVAC engineers at the design stage and through diligent project coordination with installing contractors and local sales representatives.
Expert Service Driven Resources
Completing over 1,500 projects per year, our customer support structure includes a team of highly responsive application engineers trained in employing The Integrated Systems Approach to noise and vibration control. The Systems Approach is a design methodology demanding that products fit the system, not the other way around. We take a wide variety of issues beyond sound and vibration into consideration: influential variables such as space, energy, total cost and IAQ. Whether the appropriate product is standard or customized, only the correct application of that product produces a solution.
Our project managers work closely with contractors, engineers and sales representatives to optimize product sequencing, trade coordination and choose the best construction options to minimize installation labor. We often conduct site walk-throughs to ensure contractors get exactly what they need. When you choose Vibro-Acoustics, you’re getting single source responsibility for noise, vibration and restraint systems.
Right where you need us
To provide low cost and quick delivery, Vibro-Acoustics’ flexible manufacturing space comprises over 150,000 sq. ft. strategically located across North America in Toronto, Nashville, Reno and New York City.
We’ve successfully implemented our technology in major projects throughout Asia, Europe and the Middle East, and satisfied customers around the world recognize our unique Systems Approach as the best solution to achieving noise and vibration control on all projects.
At Vibro-Acoustics, we built our technical leadership capability on our first aero-acoustic laboratory, the best of its era, in the early 1960s. Two subsequent laboratories led to the creation of Vibro-Acoustics’ 4th generation aero-acoustic testing facility, the world’s first NVLAP-accredited laboratory for the testing of silencers, in the early 1990s. Currently Vibro-Acoustics is maintaining industry leadership with a 5th generation NVLAP accredited facility, with a larger reverberation room volume.
Many manufacturers employ test facilities to maximize catalog ratings based on ideal lab conditions. We run our facility to understand product ratings in both ideal and real conditions to ensure the right data is used on a system-specific basis. We pride ourselves on the fact that we’re the biggest users of our data. And to meet our exacting standards, our data has to be right every time.
Lay-in Service
The Vibro-Acoustics Lay-in Service provides consultants with free application and selection assistance for Noise Control and Vibration Isolation products. On average, consultants who work with one of our 20+ application engineering specialists save 16 hours of design time per project. With over 50 years of experience, Vibro-Acoustics’ application engineering team utilizes the Integrated Systems Approach to provide a project-specific solution based on the actual requirements of the project. Consulting engineers who take advantage of our Lay-in Service greatly reduce their project risk of experiencing a noise problem, thanks to our one-of-a-kind End Result Guarantee.
Value:
Meet tight design deadlines and increase profitability by spending less time per project design
Minimize your project risk
Discover added value to the project – space, cost, energy and IAQ
What we do:
Perform a complete system analysis – Vibro-Acoustics will analyze acoustics, aerodynamics, vibration, seismic/wind requirements and project-specific limitations (cost, space, IAQ requirements, etc.)
Select the appropriate solution – Based on the specific system requirements, Vibro-Acoustics will select the best possible solution for the project.
Recommend product locations – The location of the product is often as important as the product itself. Vibro-Acoustics will specify exact product locations.
Solution Evaluation – Based on the system analysis and the project limitations, Vibro-Acoustics’ Application Engineering team will provide an evaluation and, if needed, other recommendations on how to meet the desired design criteria.
Deliverables:
Acoustic systems analysis printout: The calculations and steps to determine how much noise control or vibration isolation is needed.
Complete product schedule
Project drawings, marked-up to illustrate the noise control locations we recommend.
Detailed specifications – tailored to your project – in rich text format.
Put us to the test with your unique situation.
We'll work with you from the cocktail napkin to the ultimate solution. All we need are:
Equipment Sound Power Levels (e.g. AHUs, fans, VAV boxes, etc.)
Drawings or sketches of system layout (BIM and CAD drawings welcome)
Desired sound criteria for occupied spaces.
For Seismic Projects: The Seismic Design Category (page1 of the structural drawings) and the Component Importance Factors (Ip) for the HVAC equipment (USA only).
