VAN EST METALS: A ROCK-SOLID FAMILY BUSINESS SINCE 1942

One transport bike, 500 kilos of hardware, two strong legs. Grandpa Leo van Est started the company with a vision and perseverance. Pedal support was not yet known, as well as financial support. It was 1942, World War II was raging. Leo buffed hard, without whining he collected rags and metals.

After an ambulatory life, son Chiel was born in 1955. The family settles in North Holland where Chiel starts Chiel van Est Oud IJzer- en Metaalhandel in 1982. In Noord-Scharwoude, the transport bicycle is exchanged for a site of 3,000 m2. Later, a move to a larger site (4,500m2) on the Overtoom in Heerhugowaard follows. And then in 1980 Leo is born, the son of Chiel, grandson of Leo. When he supplements the company with his ideas in 1996, steps are quickly taken towardsa larger yard. When brother Hein (born in 1987) also joins the management, Chiel, Leo and Hein make the switch to their current location on the Snelliusstraat in Heerhugowaard. The name is renamed to Van Est Metals.

Of course, the company no longer resembles the company that Grandpa once had, but in terms of mentality nothing has changed! Doing business fairly and paying quickly and correctly. That is what the men of Van Est Metals stand for. The current customer base still includes customers from grandfather's time. Then you can speak of customer loyalty.
