Our Story
Johnny Stamper graduated from Lowgap High School in 1951. After Graduation Johnny enlisted for 4 years into the U.S. Air Force. In June, 1955 Staff Sgt. John E. Stamper received his honorable discharge from Davis-Montham Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona. Then, he and his wife Cora Ramey Stamper came to Mt. Airy, N.C. In the late 50's they started a lawn mower and chain saw sales + repair shop. In 1962 a septic pump truck came up for sale. Johnny and a Vernon man "neighbor" bought the pump truck together and named it V + S Septic Service. A while later Vernon told Johnny there wasn't enough business. He said he would like to either sell his half sell his half of the pump truck or buy Johnny's half of the pump truck. Since Johnny owned the shop building they worked from he told Vernon he would buy his part. They agreed to leave the name V & S Septic Service that the customers are familiar with. Then, Johnny's two sons Benny and John II bought backhoes and worked with their dad. Johnny passed in December 1999. Benny and John have since carried on the thriving business of V & S Septic Service.
