University Place Refuse and Recycling offers garbage, recycling and yard waste curbside pickup in University Place.  The following are guidelines for residential waste removal.  Our instructions are designed to provide you with the best service, in addition to providing safe and sanitary conditions for our workers and your neighbors. Thank you for following the guidelines with your trash disposal.University Place Refuse and Recycling offers curbside yard waste toter service.  This valuable service benefits both the customer and the environment by reducing landfill and necessary garbage toter size.  Vegetation (like grass, branches, garden refuse and leaves) can be turned into nutrient rich and valuable compost that we are able to offer back to you for your garden.We offer the choice of a 95-gallon or 64-gallon toter.  For the customer who requests more than one Toter, there will be a nominal charge.Yard waste is picked up every other week, the same day as your recycling pickup.  You must use the toter provided by us as your primary yard waste container.  The toter weight limit is 200 lbs.Additional Yard Waste toters are available for a nominal fee each per month.  If you need a special pickup for Yard Waste toters, there is a fee.If you have extra yard waste, please us a GREEN extra tag, or clearly write “YARD WASTE” on the tag you use.  Each extra yard waste can, box, bag or bundle must be easily manageable by hand and tagged for pickup, and the cost will be added to your next garbage bill.  Make sure to use the GREENtags because they are much less than the cost of extra garbage tags.  These tags must be filled out completely, with your name, address, account number, and date in order to be taken.  You may make your own tags using durable card stock or cardboard.  Please include all of the information listed above as well as the words “YARD WASTE” clearly written on the tag.If a bag is used to contain the extra yard waste, please leave it untied and open so the driver can empty it.  The empty bag will be left behind.  Please limit the size(s) of your extra yard waste to 45 pounds, 32 gallons, 4 cubic feet, or 3′ in length.University Place Refuse and Recycling offers a variety of services for our commercial customers.  Both apartments (any multi-family residence) and businesses have unique needs, depending on their size and demands.We offer a variety of garbage solutions for apartments and businesses, with container sizes varying from our residential toters to our large, 40 cubic yard drop boxes.  We are also able to service your garbage compactor box if you wish to have one.  Please call our office at 253-564-3212 to discuss a compactor.Recycling is also an important part of the waste management process.  Your business can save money – and help preserve the enviroment – by participating in our business recycling programs.  We provide the recycling containers (and even small apartment/deskside baskets) for your continued use.
