Since its establishment, Umacon Oy's focus has been on machine and construction demolition work, as well as equipment demolition tasks and related project management. Demolition can be done either for reuse or scrap. In addition, we buy and sell scrap metal as well as machinery and equipment for reuse and scrap. Over the years, demolition projects have become respected specialist jobs - they have become “targeted demolitions” where the duration of the work can be minimized.

Umacon Oy has been awarded the ISO 45001 occupational health and safety system certificate , the purpose of which is to prevent work-related deaths, accidents, damage to health and to promote well-being at work. Occupational safety, compliance with occupational safety and fire regulations, consideration of special conditions and adherence to schedules are our core competencies. Umacon Oy is a Kouvola-based company founded in 1988 (Reg. 1989), which with years of experience is a leading player in demanding industrial machine and equipment dismantling and project hauling. All aspects of Umacon Oy's concept are built to complement each other. The customer's requirements are always taken into account and our goal is to guarantee a level of service that meets these requirements and fulfills all statutory obligations.

The fleet consists of comprehensive demolition and transfer equipment, which is constantly renewed. In recent years, the demolition and sawing of concrete has increased sharply. Umacon also has its own professional skills and up-to-date machinery when handling concrete. There are more than 60 permanent staff, but per project the number may even double.

In all our operations, we strive to reduce our environmental impact. We are committed to protecting the environment and preventing pollution, as well as continuously improving the level of our environmental system. We have been awarded the ISO 14001 environmental management system certificate. As a responsible operator, we always comply with legal and other requirements related to environmental protection. Commitment to the environment is an important part of our competitiveness, and we believe that compliance with legal requirements is always a prerequisite for running a successful business. We carry out preventive environmental work and strive for continuous improvement of environmental work. In practice, this means that Umacon Oy strives to improve the environmental impact of the demolition business and other business by the following measures:

We sort the dismantled material immediately on site for further processing and / or disposal. In this case, the recyclable materials generated from the demolition are returned to the circular economy, the recoverable materials are sorted into separate fractions and the waste to be disposed of is separated from other materials. Materials are always delivered to licensed reception areas. The reuse of machinery and equipment, the recycling of materials and the greatest possible utilization save nature and virgin natural resources and significantly reduce the carbon footprint. Proper and efficient sorting and recycling of materials on our sites is an integral part of our profitable business.

The company has a 23-hectare recycling center in Kouvola in the Hyötyvirta area and a scrap recycling center on Vinkakatu in Lahti. The environmental permit of the Kouvola Recycling Center allows the reception and treatment of metal, electronics and sheet metal scrap, concrete / brick waste, construction demolition and wood waste, packaging materials, machinery, equipment and soil. In this way, we can provide companies with comprehensive recycling services. Umacon recycles more than 10,000 tons of metal annually from scrap metal generated from its own demolition work.
