We thank you for visiting our website, and invite you to take some time to explore the site to learn more about how you can benefit from The Troutlodge Advantage.
Headquartered in the beautiful Pacific Northwest USA - the native home to the rainbow trout - Troutlodge, Inc. has grown from its humble beginnings as a producer of trout for the local food markets to become a world leader in salmonid aquaculture. Troutlodge is now the world's leading producer of eyed salmonid eggs and the Pacific Northwest's largest private supplier of live trout. Today, customers in nearly every state and over 60 countries around the world benefit from the products and services of Troutlodge.
Founded in 1945 by friends Ed McLeary and Ken Drew, Troutlodge has continuously grown and adapted in order to accommodate its ever-growing customer base. In the USA, Troutlodge has grown to include a total of 10 facilities located throughout the states of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, including its original home at the headwaters of the Rocky Ford Creek. In addition, Troutlodge owns and operates freshwater subsidiaries in Chile and the Isle of Man. Troutlodge Chile was founded in 1996, and the Isle of Man operations began in 2007 with the purchase of the Glen Wyllin Trout Farm site. This expansion onto the Isle of Man gave Troutlodge its first production sites in Europe.
Recently, Troutlodge expanded into commercial marine aquaculture, where the company aims to leverage its expertise in genetics management and fish husbandry to satisfy this burgeoning market. The marine division began in 2007 with the purchase of Unlimited Aquaculture in Kona, Hawaii, since renamed 'Troutlodge Marine Farms of Kona'. In addition, the marine division has expanded to also include a facility in Vero Beach, Florida, where the company is working with cobia, pompano, and a variety of marine ornamental species. In 2009, Troutlodge Marine began operations at a site in Brinnon, Washington, where we focus on sablefish broodstock, egg, and juvenile production. The company aims to leverage its expertise in genetics management and fish husbandry to satisfy this burgeoning market.
All of the Troutlodge facilities, both freshwater and marine, enable the company to take advantage of ideal water conditions for the growth and maintenance of its broodstock, and are strategically placed geographically to better serve the company's global markets.
Over the years, Troutlodge has developed four distinct strains of trout, allowing it to produce and ship eggs every week of the year without the use of photoperiod manipulation. These strains have been specifically designed and continuously improved to accommodate the ever-changing needs of farmers around the world.
After growing to international prominence under the leadership and direction of the McLeary family, Troutlodge was purchased in 2005 by a group of investors led by its top management. These new owners, including Jim Barfoot, Jim Parsons, and Steve Brown, remain committed to serving Troutlodge's global customer base, by continually improving and expanding upon our product lines and customer service efforts. This commitment is demonstrated in large part by our investment in research & development and genetic selection programs. These programs enable Troutlodge to continually improve upon the quality and value of our eggs and live fish, and maintain our certified disease-free status.
Troutlodge now employs 120 people in its global operations, and annually ships over 500 million salmonid eggs around the world. In addition, it supplies millions of live fish to public and private entities throughout the states of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.
Troutlodge operates a number of facilities in order to meet its growing production demands and to maximize the quality of its products, including both eyed eggs and live fish. Headquartered in the Pacific Northwest USA - the native home of the Rainbow trout - in the shadow of majestic Mt. Rainier, Troutlodge is part of a larger family of companies with operations around the world. Freshwater production sites, in addition to the USA, include the Isle of Man (Europe) and Chile. In addition, the company's marine division (Troutlodge Marine) operates sites in Florida (Vero Beach) and Hawaii (Kona). Please explore the links below to learn more about each of these facilities and how they are designed so that we can serve you best.
