The company first began in 1957 as a magnetic fishing tool company. A few years later an agreement was reached to sell the magnets to Bowen Tools. During the 1960s Tripple M operated as a supply company, buying and selling oilfield rubber products. They also began to purchase rubber molds, which were processed in Houston. As the business expanded, a machine shop was purchased in the early 1970s. Then rubber molds began to be designed and built in-house. Also at this time Tripple M began to develop proprietary rubber formulas.

The company became more competitive in the market place as its product line and mold additions continued to grow throughout the 1970s and into the early 1980s. With this expansion, logistic concerns of having the process of rubber molding performed by a third party in Houston were becoming burdensome. In 1978, under the leadership of Mickey Olliff, a rubber molding plant was constructed and all rubber molding was moved to the company’s facility in Odessa, where it remains today.

As customer’s needs evolved in the field in the 1990s, Tripple M met this demand by doubling and then tripling its manufacturing production, performing repair work on BOPs, and manufacturing BOP replacement parts. A major endeavor was initiated during this time as our innovative company began to acquire its API 16A license for building blowout preventers, the Tripple M Triplus BOP. Tripple M received this certification in 1995 along with meeting the requirements for API 6A and ISO 9001 licensing. In 2001 the decision was made to discontinue manufacturing complete BOP units. Tripple M continues to operate under a quality system, maintaining product traceability and utilizes documented quality control requirements on its products. Tripple M manufactures a complete line of oilfield equipment replacement parts. Everything from blowout preventer expendable parts, stripper rubbers, ram blocks, ram packers to power swivel parts and rotating head rubbers, just to name a few.

Since 2001 Tripple M Oil Tool has undergone a considerable transformation. State-of-the-art equipment has been purchased, new buildings have been acquired, expanded and built, more employees have been added, and business has increased considerably. A quick glance at our customer base reveals several recognizable names that include Weatherford, Schlumberger, Baker Hughes, National Oilwell Varco, Hydril, Cameron, GE Oil & Gas, and thousands more all of which are very much valued and appreciated by the staff of Tripple M Oil Tool.

While customer service and product quality are the main focus of Tripple M Oil Tool, the company also looks to the future with continued quality improvement implementation by continued procurement of additional equipment and employees. In addition Tripple M plans to once again be licensed by API for the manufacture of Ram Blocks, Ram Packers, and Top Seals.
