The Trust was created as the only qualified nonprofit organization to administer the Oregon Carbon Dioxide Standard, the nation’s first legislation to curb emissions of carbon dioxide.
We are a pioneer and nationally recognized leader in the carbon market. That's why project developers, regulated utilities, businesses, and state and local governments turn to us for our experience, and innovation. The Climate Trust’s mission is transforming the economy to value our climate. We fulfill our mission by engaging in the following activities:
WE BUY,
WE SELL,
WE INVEST,
The Climate Trust recognizes that we must develop models of collective action in order to achieve large-scale climate change mitigation results. That is why we continually cultivate strategic partnerships that can multiply our climate and policy impact. We collaborate with other carbon market leaders, businesses, utilities, environmentalists, governments, and other nonprofit organizations to galvanize and accelerate actions that work to preserve our Earth’s threatened climate system.
Climate change is affecting the planet faster than earlier models predicted, which means that climate change solutions must be deployed quickly and globally so we can avoid the most catastrophic impacts.
Because action on this issue is generally slow, we need bold new thinking that relies on the lessons of the past while pointing towards a hopeful future. The Climate Trust is sounding a renewed call to action in order to more rapidly reduce greenhouse gas concentrations to 350 parts per million which is being hampered by many barriers, including the slow global economic recovery.
