About Us

Tenco Hydro has been committed to providing its customers with practical and reliable solutions for their wastewater treatment problems since 1971. It was then that Tenco designed and supplied its first dissolved air flotation system (DAF) for soybean oil recovery using the recognized technology of the day. It was also then that the continual process of improving designs began for performance and reliability for use in municipal sludge thickening, industrial clarification and by-product recovery.

In 1974, a DAF design with new flow distribution features was introduced. The new inlet features improved the mixing of depressurizing recycle flow with the wastewater and distributed it more evenly for optimum use of the DAF cell. Continued development resulted in the proprietary, and effective pyramidal inlet structure we use today. That same year, a new recycle pressurization system design was unveiled. It produced solubilization efficiency that exceeded any other available. The combination of superior recycle pressurization performance, flow distribution and mechanical improvements got a name in 1976. Clari-Float was introduced.

Tenco introduced the Skim Kleen belt oil skimmer in 1977. It lead the way to other advances in oil and grease separation. Our first gravity scum concentrator was installed in 1982 with our first API oil water separator following in 1983.

Scum/grease concentrators delivering higher float concentrations were introduced in 1989 and have become the point of comparison for this type of equipment. Heated batch process tanks, for improved grease handling, have been used with Tenco scum concentrators since 1990. Continued refinement of both has resulted in the Clari-Scum concentrators and Thermix batch process tanks.

Throughout our history, we have frequently been asked to design specialized equipment and systems to address a particular problem. One example is the development of oil concentration and transfer packages for the Skim Kleen. Designed at the request of a customer, it is now a common option. The origins of the Clari-Pac C coalescing oil water separators and Clari-Pac G lamella clarifiers are also found in these systems.

At Tenco Hydro, development of customized solutions is ongoing. They are based on sound engineering principles and proven practices. Each process is evaluated in order to suggest the best possible solution, in terms of scope and price, whether it is for a system component or the whole system.

For over 40 years, Tenco Hydro has specialized in the design and supply of wastewater treatment solutions for industry and municipalities. Tenco Hydro designs are based on physical/chemical processes including chemical conditioning, neutralization, dissolved air flotation clarification and thickening, scum and grease concentration, gravity clarification and oil - water separation, among others.

The right solution will provide both performance and value. The right solution could be an individual piece of equipment or an entire system.  Value is added by designing in sensible operation, with emphasis on practicality, flexibility, reliability and longevity. These are traits we strive to include in every Tenco Hydro project.

Our Approach

We take pride in providing our customers with individual attention to their specialized wastewater needs. The following defines our approach to every project.

Conceptual Design

Whether a project starts with a blank sheet of paper or only needs a new component to improve performance, a thorough understanding of the application is the key to a successful outcome. Tenco Hydro has the capability and experience to evaluate and recommend the best solution to meet the effluent discharge limit(s) of each application.

System Design & Supply

When an application requires a complete system design to meet specific discharge limits, all appropriate processes are considered to create the most practical solution. Engineering services include design/selection, procurement and supply of all components for the complete system, from influent collection to effluent discharge.

Customization

Tenco Hydro equipment is based on standard design features and sizes. Modifications are usually necessary to suit specific process requirements, site conditions and customer preferences. Pipe sizes, orientation, features, accessories, controls, instrumentation and materials of construction will vary for each project.

Preassembled Modular Design

Some systems benefit from being supplied as preassembled Process Modules. In the same way that individual pieces of equipment benefit from factory preassembly, so can a complete system having multiple modules. Module sizes are normally determined by handling and shipping constraints, and also site requirements. Factory preassembly for multiple system components, using a modularized approach, will minimize field assembly and installation.

Tenco Hydro has designed and supplied wastewater systems for many applications in a wide range of industries. Applying our varied experience to new challenges allows us to successfully address each unique application. Systems are designed, supplied and sometimes installed by Tenco Hydro to best suit our customers requirements.

Food Processing

Wastewater from food processing facilities typically contain high concentrations of FOG (fats, oils and greases), TSS (total suspended solids) and BOD (biological oxygen demand). These contaminants must be reduced to meet sewer limits and/or to minimize applicable sewer surcharges of the POTW (publicly owned treatment works); or to enhance further treatment processes. Tenco Clari-Float DAF (dissolved air flotation) has been the process of choice for this purpose. Chemical conditioning is sometimes necessary. Valuable by-products can be recovered without the use of chemicals.
