SSAM is a regional waste company owned by the municipalities of Lessebo, Markaryds, Tingsryds, Växjö and Älmhults. SSAM is a merger of the waste operations in each municipality. The purpose of the coordination is to develop waste management throughout the region.
SSAM was formed in 2018 and since 1 January 2019 has been responsible for all waste management in the five owner municipalities. These include waste collection, recycling centers and sludge disposal for approximately 140,000 inhabitants.
SSAM's vision
Our vision is a Småland without waste . To strive for our vision, we aim to reduce the amount of food and residual waste as well as bulky waste by 25 percent by 2025.
SSAM works to increase recycling and that more types of waste can be sorted at the recycling centers. We have also introduced real estate collection in four-compartment containers in our municipalities.
