History

Superior Environmental Corp (Superior) was founded in 1989 by Jim and Vaughn Quince as an environmental consulting business.  Superior was established to meet the demand for quality environmental services at a time when new environmental regulations were emerging.  The founders took their experience from the environmental remediation and consulting engineering services industries and created a company that provided a blend of assessment and remediation services to meet customer needs.  This strategy to manage entire projects and provide innovative solutions still guides the service we provide today.

Superior’s first office was located in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  This small office, which was located in a house, quickly became too small for Superior's growing operations and was soon moved to a larger office in Marne, Michigan.  Superior continued to grow, and in 1990 moved  to a larger facility in Muskegon, Michigan.   This office was a former Superfund site that Superior redeveloped as its first Brownfield project.  In 1996 Superior moved back to Marne, and built a custom office/shop building where our headquarters are presently housed.

Superior expanded into the southeast Michigan market in 1990 when the second office was opened in Brighton, Michigan.  It was during this time that Superior acquired its first drill rig and began providing environmental drilling and construction management services.  To better serve central and northern Michigan, Superior’s third Michigan office was opened in Bay City in 1992.   With the Michigan operations running at full speed, Superior established operations in Ohio in 1993 and Illinois in 1995.  In 1997, a major client asked Superior if we would consider opening an east coast office and the Connecticut office was born.

In 1996 Superior launched the Remedial Services Division headquartered in Marne.  This branch of Superior operates under the Remedial Services name allowing it to provide construction management services for current clients and other environmental consulting firms without providing a direct competition image.

In 2000 Superior qualified as a Women Business Enterprise (WBE) and became an employee owned company (ESOP) in 2004.  Today, Superior has offices and staff in multiple states serving the Great Lakes Region and the East Coast.  In keeping with our founding vision, we provide superior full-service environmental consulting, environmental engineering, and construction management services.
