In 1967, we pioneered commercial development of Canada's oil sands – one of the largest petroleum resource basins in the world. Since then, Suncor has grown to become a globally competitive integrated energy company with a balanced portfolio of high-quality assets, a strong balance sheet and significant growth prospects. Across our operations, we intend to achieve production of one million barrels of oil equivalent per day.
Suncor is also investing in clean, renewable energy sources.
At Suncor we have a mission that defines our core purpose and helps to direct our actions and activities. We have a vision that describes our view of the future and our place in it. Our values are a set of beliefs that guide our behaviour and help us to deliver our mission and realize our vision.
The skeptics said Canada's oil sands could never be developed commercially. In 1967, Suncor Energy proved them wrong. Our people – their perseverance, dedication and innovation – turned vision into reality.
Today, Suncor is Canada’s premier integrated energy company, the fifth largest North American energy company and has a place on the global stage as one of the largest independent energy companies in the world.
We provide thousands of well-paid jobs, put millions of dollars into Canadian businesses every year, take action on environmental issues, and support our communities by funding local initiatives.
Our track record as an oil sands pioneer is both cause for celebration and inspiration for the future. Look to Suncor to continue leading the way – expanding our oil sands operations to one of the world’s largest positions, developing renewable energy and investing in new technologies to improve our environmental performance. We're still making history.
Suncor produces oil, natural gas, wind-generated electricity and ethanol. The specific outputs of our refining operations include: bitumen blends, sweet and sour crude oil, diesel, gasoline, jet fuel, asphalt, chemicals, heavy fuel and home heating oils, petroleum coke and sulphur. Our products also serve as a feedstock for consumer and industrial products such as plastics, household detergents and specialty lubricants.
At its network of 1,500 Petro-Canada retail and wholesale outlets across Canada, Suncor offers customers a wide variety of fuel and service offerings. In Colorado, Suncor operates a network of retail sites under the Shell and Phillips 66 brands. In addition, Suncor produces high-quality low sulphur diesel fuel and distributes it through a network of facilities located in most major cities and towns across Canada.
Petro-Canada’s Lubricants division produces more than 350 lubricating oil-based stocks and other specialized products that are sold in more than 70 countries.
Suncor produces the energy that is refined into products that consumers across North America use to fuel their vehicles, heat their homes, and power their schools, hospitals and businesses. By investing in technology, Suncor is working to ensure our products are developed in an environmentally responsible way, while also meeting consumer expectations for high-quality, competitively priced and safe products.
