In January 1987, after working as a draftsman and checker for 12 years for several structural steel fabricators, Maurice Roy became an associate of a father and son team in a company that produced structural steel detail drawings. They began with 2 employees.In 1990, at the beginning of the recession, one of the associates (the father) decided to retire. The company had 6 employees working for them at the time.The recession hit hard as it did everywhere else. At that moment, to be more competitive, they decided to invest in SDS2 Steel Detailing software for structural & miscellaneous steel detailing, which today is still recognized as one of the best software when it comes to the quality and the productivity of structural & miscellaneous steel drawings.At the end of 1996, there were 18 detailers and checkers working for Steltec in addition to having 10 SDS/2 stations.The perception of the management of the company by the two partners was starting to differ from one another.At the end of 1997, they decided by mutual agreement to go their separate ways while continuing to work together on joint projects.Today Steltec is at the cutting edge of technology;
