The roots of our company in Twinsburg, OH, Spencer Products Company, trace back to 1950 when David R. Tuttle began operating the David R. Tuttle Company, which was a  Manufacturers Rep selling in what was then a domestic fastener industry. Mr. Tuttle represented companies such as Wasmer Bolt, now Lake Erie Screw, Master Products, Wales Beach, and the Independent Nail Corporation.  With the formation of the Independent Ohio Nail Company in 1953, Mr. Tuttle began his career in distribution. This new company was developed to supply less-than-truck-load wholesalers with the threaded nails they needed to get their projects finished on time. In 1954, the Fruehauf Corporation urged Mr. Tuttle to begin supplying their lower-volume parts as well. Spencer Products Company was formed to serve that purpose.  Mr. Tuttle was inducted into the National Industrial Fastener Hall of Fame in 1990, shortly after his death. His three sons, David, Robert, and Thomas, owned and operated the company until they retired in 2009. Spencer Products Company is now in the hands of the third generation of the Tuttle Family.
