A Brief History Of Smith Iron And Metal:
1940 – Charles A. Smith, Sr. founded Smith Junk and Salvage. The original location was 1805 East Cary Street, Richmond, Virginia.
1965 – Smith Junk and Salvage incorporated and became Smith Iron & Metal Co., Inc.
1975 – Opened second location at 3000 Bells Road, Richmond, Virginia
1991 – Consolidated operations to 3000 Bells Road
2006 – Added state of the art computer system to increase the speed and efficiency of operations.
2007 – Constructed the new shredder facility
