HISTORY
Starting with a man, a hydraulic ironworker, and an MIG welder, Slagel Manufacturing was founded in 1993 by Mark Slagel to provide quality metal fabrication services for farmers and small businesses in Central Illinois, and to provide for Slagel’s growing family.
“Growing up on a dairy and grain farm gave me many opportunities to make or repair things, whether with a stick welder, torch, or a hacksaw.” Slagel took his experience in repair and metal fabrication, and combined it with his passion for farming, to manufacture tough and dependable hog gates and gestation stalls for hardworking farmers.
As the business continued to grow, Mark’s brother, Don Slagel, joined the company as a co-owner in 1996, and they soon expanded from a home shop to a new facility in 2000. Six building additions and dozens of employees later, Slagel Manufacturing remains more than a business to the Slagel family according to Mark. “I feel we have been truly blessed not only in our business but our lives.”
Mark credits Slagel’s success to his team of employees he considers dear friends, and loyal customers who appreciate the hard work, reasonable pricing, and excellent customer service Slagel strives to give every single person and customer we are blessed to serve.
