With unrivalled technical capabilities, Silixa delivers the highest quality data derived from distributed fibre-optic acoustic (iDAS™) and temperature (ULTIMA™ DTS and XT-DTS™) measurements. Access to this previously unreachable data enables the company to offer numerous advanced fibre-optic monitoring solutions for the energy and other industrial sectors. With headquarters in London, United Kingdom, and an operational base in Houston, USA, Silixa operates globally. The company is ISO accredited.
Silixa’s industry leading distributed acoustic and distributed temperature sensing technologies form the basis for a suite of data acquisition services directed towards key measurement challenges in the upstream oil and gas industry.
In distributed sensing the optical fibre acts as the sensor array making the system inherently reliable due to the absence of downhole electronics or moving parts. The optical fibre can be introduced to the wellbore as part of a cable intervention or more permanently as a component of the completion.
The range of data applications possible with distributed sensing means that the same optical fibre installation can provide the user with actionable information throughout the life of the well. Access to seismic, well productivity and integrity answers as part of a permanent monitoring strategy offer a clear return on investment.
Silixa endeavour to provide best in class data quality and answer products complimented by premier engineering solutions and system installation capabilities.
Modern pipeline management calls for pipeline integrity, real-timeleak detection and threat identification. Silixa’s intelligent Pipeline Surveillance System (iPSSTM) utilises a single optical fibre cable and distributed sensing technology to monitor continuously the integrity of oil and gas pipelines against leak and threats. The system offers sensitivity & positional accuracy which cannot be achieved using other technologies. It operates using standard telecoms fibre as the sensor with no complex components or power to the sensor along the pipeline route.
All instrumentation and processing takes place in the control room. The cable containing the fibre only has to be placed in proximity of the pipeline making installation straightforward and retrofitting a possibility without having to conduct works on the pipeline.
Early detection of a leak or intrusion together with the accurate identification of the location allows time for either safe shutdown or rapid dispatch of assessment and clean-up crews.
