About Company

Shearer The Jeweler opened for business in Easton in 1926. Abraham Shearer, a watchmaker by trade, opened his business as a full sevice retail jewelry store. In addition to a selection of fine jewelry, Shearer offered watches and clocks, giftware and repair service.

In 1950, Morton Shearer took over the business for his father. The business expanded as Easton and Talbot County grew in population. Morton and his wife Eunice, continued a fine tradition as the demand for fine jewelery and gifts grew as well.

In 1980 Steve Shearer joined his parents in the family business. Steve became the third generation to operate and own the business. Today, Steve, a Graduate Gemologist, is assisted by a knowledgeable staff with over seventy-five years of combined jewelry experience. Offering the services of a goldsmith on the premises, the business has continued its tradition as a full service retail jeweler.

With a history that has extended over seventy five years, Shearer The Jeweler is an Easton landmark. A large selection of fine jewelry for every taste, timepieces and elegant giftware are reflected throughout the store.

Proper Care of Jewelry :
Have your jeweler clean and inspect your jewelry every 6 months to look for loose settings, worn prongs, faulty links etc.
Do not wear in swimming pools or salt water.
A prong that is loose, worn or catches on fabric may cause a stone to fall out of its setting. Have your jeweler check item immediately.
When not wearing your jewelry, place each item in a separate soft compartment so it doesn’t become scratched or tangled.
Avoid heavy blows to your diamond - they can chip if struck at the right angle.
Insure your jewelry to assure that you can replace it if lost, stolen or damaged.
Take off jewelry before sleeping!
Clean jewelry at home with a jewelry cleaner intended for the item; precious jewelry cleaner, silver jewelry cleaner or pearl cleaner.

Pearl Care :
Always put your pearls on last when getting dressed to avoid contact with lotions, hair spray products or perfumes. Store separately from other jewelry in a soft case and only clean them with “Pearl Cleaner”. Have your pearls inspected every six months for wearing or thinning silk.
