The SHB was founded in 1991/92 as a merger of 12 gravel works from the Hohenlohe-Bauland region. Already shortly after the founding of the SHB, the active quarrying in 4 plants was stopped, so that raw material extraction and processing is currently taking place in 8 gravel plants.

With currently 58 employees, all materials required for civil engineering and road construction as well as the aggregates for the concrete and asphalt industry and the special products for gardening and landscaping are manufactured. The raw material obtained consists exclusively of limestone. There are both the trochitic limestone from the upper layers as well as foam and wavy limestone from the lower layers of the shell limestone.

The system technology was adapted to the mining conditions for each location and thus ensures compliance with the constantly increasing quality requirements.

SHB has also been the point of contact for recycled building materials for several years. For this purpose, construction waste is accepted at 6 locations and processed into high-quality recycled building materials.

The acceptance of unpolluted earth masses from civil engineering measures round off the range of offers, so that the SHB sees itself as a competent partner for all problems in civil engineering and road construction  is one of them.

It is our special concern to deal responsibly and sustainably with our locations. The recultivation and environmental compatibility of our quarries and mining facilities are already considered during the planning and mining. We meet all requirements and, in addition, we enter into a dialogue with local representatives in order to include their interests.
