Seneca Foundry is a manufacturer of gray and ductile iron castings, ranging in size from ounces to 250 pounds. We have a diverse customer base serving industries from agriculture to industrial to cookware and everything in between. Offering a variety of molding processes (green sand, lost foam, and nobake) allows us to give the customer the best solution for their casting needs.
With over 1,400 unique part numbers we rely on our Total Quality Management system to ensure standards, processes, and procedures are in place and working to provide high-quality castings to our customers. Although capable of doing high volume work, our niche is in low volume, producing anywhere from 1 to 1,000 piece runs.
Our 35,000 square foot manufacturing facility is located in Webster City, Iowa. We proudly support many local organizations that make a positive impact in our surrounding neighborhoods and give an opportunity to our youth, our future! We are committed to being good neighbors and hold ourselves to a high standard of environmental stewardship, protecting our natural resources through conservation and sustainable practices.
Our History
From Humble Beginnings
Seneca Foundry began in 1935 when McCollough's Inc. purchased a small locally owned foundry. The parent company used the foundry to supply them with cast iron parts for hog feeders and waterers. The two businesses were separated in 1955 when Robert McCollough purchased the foundry and his brother, John, purchased the hog equipment manufacturing plant from their father, McKinley McCollough.
Seneca Foundry moved to its present site in 1972 when Webster City Products purchased the old foundry location to expand its plant. For the first time, our foundry had electric melting equipment which provided more control over the metal chemistry, environment, and quantity and quality of the metal. Another electric melting furnace, more floor space, and two more molding lines were added in 1976. Automated molding and sand mixing machinery were added in 1980.
Seneca Foundry uses sand molding and lost foam processes to produce gray and ductile iron castings. Our sand molding combines time tested techniques and with the latest control systems to produce dimensionally consistent castings with excellent surface finishes. Our constant monitoring with in-house testing and commercial laboratories allow us to produce all of the most popular grades of gray and ductile iron with the greatest machinability.
