SRN stands for Scooter Recycling Nederland and is the Dutch recycling system for mopeds and mopeds, or mopeds and scooters up to 50cc. SRN is a voluntary initiative of the RAI Association and BOVAG to recycle scooters, mopeds or light mopeds in a socially responsible manner, to make new raw materials available and to dispose of environmentally hazardous substances in the correct manner.
Why SRN?
There are more than 1 million mopeds or light mopeds in the Netherlands. All these mopeds or light mopeds are discarded at some point. Then it is important that these vehicles are recycled in a responsible manner and do not end up in an irresponsible circuit. Hazardous substances such as oil, coolant and lead batteries must be processed correctly so that they do not damage the living environment. SRN was founded to ensure that these scooters are recycled in an environmentally responsible manner.
Target
The professional motorized two-wheeler sector, organized under the RAI Association (manufacturers and importers) and BOVAG (scooter companies), founded the Scooter Recycling Nederland Foundation (SRN) on 30 August 2011. With the aim of recycling the mopeds or mopeds in an environmentally responsible manner. However, we are not there with a recycling system alone. In the field of legislation and regulations, SRN is also committed to doing what is necessary for optimal scooter recycling.
Initiators
RAI Association- Department of Motorized Two-wheelers
The Motorized Two-Wheelers (GT) department of the RAI Association represents manufacturers and importers of motorcycles, motor scooters, mopeds, mopeds and scooters and scooters. The department also represents the manufacturers and importers of the parts, accessories, clothing and helmets associated with these products.
Recycling system
Return points and dismantling points are connected to SRN. Return points are affiliated companies where consumers can return their discarded moped or light moped free of charge. At the dismantling points, the vehicle is disassembled and professionally cleaned of harmful liquids. After the mopeds or light mopeds have gone through the shredder, the iron is used for new products. Due to the responsible processing of all materials, an old scrapped scooter may contribute to a new one!
