Scipar, Inc. specializes in the design and commissioning of fully engineered process control systems for water resources, hydroelectric, fossil fuel facilities, and industrial chemical processes. As a leader in our field, our non-proprietary hardware, support applications, and communications subsystems are custom designed to deliver a precise, compliant solution for our clients.
Based on the technical expertise of our employees, we are also capable of providing additional solutions including technical writing services, technical surveys and studies, and custom hardware and software engineering.
Scipar, Inc. was incorporated in 1975. Since then, we have made it a priority for Scipar engineers to work closely with clients to develop a system that is tailored to the client's specific needs. Through project consultation, Scipar engineers are able to make recommendations to ensure that the final product satisfies both the project specifications and client expectations. We view our relationship with our clients as a partnership. It is through these partnerships that Scipar can deliver a unique, turn-key system to clients while developing an on-going relationship that allows for future upgrades and lifetime maintenance.
Digital Chart Recorder Systems
Scipar's digital chart recorder system is an ideal solution for those customers who:
The Digital Chart Recorder System uses data from any real time or historical source to populate charts displayed on a video wall which consists of a configurable size matrix of display devices.
Microsoft Windows Based Control Systems
For those customers that prefer, Scipar can provided SCADA systems utilizing GE Fanuc's iFIX™ products. These systems operate on standard personal computers under the Microsoft XP Professional operating system. In addition to the standard iFIX™ SCADA configuration, Scipar offers value-added enhancements such as a hot redundant master station, extensions of standard iFIX™ block types, and automatic report generation. Customized Scipar features include one and two dimensional lookup tables, handling of daylight savings time transitions, and automatic disk maintenance procedures. Scipar provides a proven capability in developing custom device drivers for iFIX™, using GE Fanuc's OLE for Process Control (OPC) Server toolkit.
OpenVMS Based Control Systems
Scipar offers SCADA systems that are built around Hewlett-Packard's OpenVMS operating system. These systems are available to run on Integrity platforms. High system availability can be ensured by selecting a configuration that includes a Redundant Master Station computer. This hot standby mode maintains an up-to-date copy of the system databases and can take over immediately in an unlikely malfunction of the control system. The standard SCADA software provides support for polling numerous devices, alarming, calculated values, historical archiving, accumulator freeze processing, and report generation. There is no limit to the number of Human Machine Interface (HMI) nodes that can be added to the system. Each HMI provides operators with up-to-date information about the current state of the system. Control operation can be initiated by personnel with sufficient privilege from any console.
Power Generation & Distribution Systems
Scipar, Inc. provides modern and efficient solutions that offer automatic control and monitoring of hydroelectric plants. By developing and implementing state-of-the-art human machine interface technology, Scipar provides clients with the capability that allows system operators to observe a system’s current status and make control changes as needed, either manually or automatically by enabling automatic control methods. In addition, Scipar includes automatic and closed loop control functions and algorithms that are unique to the hydroelectric power industry.
Features included in Scipar's Control Systems:
The features included with Scipar customized Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems improve performance making it one of our clients' most valuable assets.
Water Management
Scipar, Inc.’s SCADA systems provide innovative solutions for our clients in need of water and waste water management. Scipar projects have provided solutions for flood control, dams, water delivery systems, wastewater treatment plants, sanitation lift stations, and groundwater recharge systems. Our water management systems supply our clients with a stand-alone control system that includes a Master Control Station and numerous operator consoles that can be placed at convenient locations. Similar to our hydroelectric power systems, the operator is able to monitor activity and make control changes manually or by enabling automatic control methods. Features can include pump control, flow control, unit control, and gate control. Scipar’s water management SCADA systems are a beneficial tool in improving water management efficiency for our clients.
Canal & Aqueduct Systems
Scipar, Inc. designs SCADA systems that meet the unique needs of canal management. Scipar’s SCADA systems perform data collection and monitoring functions as well as control of the gates and associated equipment agencies. In addition, our system’s human-machine interface capability lets a system operator view the current status of the canal functions. Systems can be interfaced to Scipar Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) or Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for control of features such as pump control, flow control, unit control, and gate control. Our systems are a logical and advantageous solution for our client’s canal management needs.
Navigation Locks
Scipar Inc. designs navigational lock control systems that include all the features of our standard SCADA systems. Along with the typical features to monitor and control independent lock structure equipment, Scipar SCADA system design enables the addition of the custom control algorithms used to ensure lock sequence and synchronization requirements are met. Public safety for vehicular and recreational boating traffic is handled via a variety of traffic signals, drop gates, and warning sirens. All safety features are engineered into the automated, semi-automated, and manual lock control system design. Extra record keeping capabilities track lock usage characteristics such as cumulative lockages, lockage durations, power consumption, and water discharge. Scipar systems span the range of simple stand-alone lock control to systems combining Dam, Vehicle Bridge, and Lock control.
