Schroth and Lorenson Jewelers was established in 1974 by father and son, Ralph and Richard Lorenson. Ralph Lorenson was an accomplished watchmaker and gemologist: having worked many years at Henke’s Jewelers in Montclair, N.J. Ralph decided he wanted to venture out on his own and bought an existing store in downtown Summit

In 1979 they moved to their current larger location in Summit and in 1990 through a partnership, became Schroth and Lorenson.

Schroth & Lorensons’ is a member of the Independent Jewelers Organization. IJO jewelers are an elite group of independent retailers, hand selected for membership and the largest jewelry buying group in the world. IJO is an organization which only accepts jewelers with the highest ethical standards and superior professional integrity.

Schroth & Lorenson's is also a member of the Jewelers of America Association. JA is the national trade association for businesses serving the fine jewelry retail marketplace, representing 11,000 member stores nationwide. JA inspires and strengthens its members’ professionalism and high social, ethical and environmental standards.

Schroth & Lorenson’s Jewelers is a member of the local Chamber of Commerce. Richard Lorenson serves as a board member of Summit Downtown Inc., an organization dedicated in keeping the shopping area vital and bringing new businesses to the area.

Appraisals
We do appraisals right on premise!

Custom Design
Have something unique in mind but can’t find it anywhere? We’re happy to assist you through the process of designing a completely new piece. We’ll work with you to ensure the durability of the design as well as the beauty. Ask a sale associate how to create the jewelry of your dreams!

Engraving
Our engraver will gladly engrave and personalize most jewelry pieces or giftware items. This service is performed by machine. Hand engraving is also available, which is sent out.

Gift Wrapping
This additional service is completely free of charge.

Jewelry Restyling
If an item in your jewelry box has gone out of style or you simply want to try something new, bring it to us. We’ll work with your specifications to create something fresh and exciting.

Pearl and Bead Restringing
Schroth and Lorenson will custom-string your necklaces or bracelets and will always clean your jewelry before restringing. This can be done in many different styles and we’re glad to work with you to create the perfect piece.

Diamond Inspections
We recommend bringing us your diamond jewelry for inspection every 6 months. Our jeweler will inspect the prongs to help prevent any possible damage or loss of your gemstones. This inspection service is free.

Gift certificates
We offer gift certificates in any denomination.

Our Repairs
Jewelry Repair
We have two Goldsmiths and bench jewelers trained in myriad aspects of jewelry repair. We can repair rings, earrings, pendants, chains, pins, and bracelets.

Setting stones in their original setting or a new style can be done. We can repair selected costume jewelry.

Watch Repair
Watch battery replacement and minor repairs are done on the premises. Watch repair estimates are free. All watch repairs are done by a certified horologist.
