Company history

In 1926, at the age of 22, Martin Schmidmeyer opened a gravel pit. The main customer was the “Schutterreinigung” construction site. At the time, the gravel was removed by horse-drawn power.

In March 1939 the first truck was purchased - it was a Hansa-Loyd with 3.5 tons. Payload. Price: 8,000 Reichsmarks.

During the war from 1939 to 1945 the gravel business was quiet. The truck was mainly used for the military.

After the war things slowly improved again. The main business was passenger transport from Irgertsheim - Pettenhofen - Mühlhausen - Dünzlau to Ingolstadt. This line was run three to four times a day.

From 01.01.1963 the sons Andreas and Martin became partners in the company. At that time it was called Martin Schmidmeyer and Sons.

On June 8, 1970, Martin Schmidmeyer Senior left the company and his son Hermann joined the company. The company was renamed Gebr. Schmidmeyer OHG.

Today, the two cousins ​​Hermann and Reinhard Schmidmeyer continue to run Schmidmeyer GmbH. The fleet now includes 12 trucks (4-axles and tractor units), 4 excavators, 4 loaders, 1 mini excavator and 1 mobile crushing plant.
