Sandbach Car & Commercial Dismantlers (SCCD) was founded in 1985 by Allister Boote.The original yard was based at Bath Street in Sandbach where the focus was car breaking, small scale scrap buying and surplus army sales. With a need to help the business grow SCCD changed location to a larger yard at Moston Road also in Sandbach where the business currently resides.In 1987 an aluminium furnace was built at the yard as SCCD made the decision to smelt aluminium, producing aluminium ingots. SCCD continued breaking cars and smelting aluminium until 2002.At this time a heavier emphasis was placed on scrap steel and vehicles; which coincided with less profitability in aluminium and the need for more space resulted in the furnace being removed.In 2003 SCCD became pro-active about steel recycling and increased their customer base by introducing a skip hire service to maximise productivity.In 2005 SCCD branched out further, seeking scrap on a larger scale by offering dismantling and demolition services. With the scrap yard well established, 2006 saw a push in the use of online auctions to look further afield for ferrous and non-ferrous metals.The first overseas scrap purchase was made in 2007 that paved the way for a good working relationships with companies in mainland Europe and Scandinavia.Sandbach Car & Commercial Dismantlers Ltd changed the company name in December 2010 to Sandbach Commercial Dismantlers Ltd.
