1997

The Birth of RMD.

In 1991, the year of its foundation, RMD began its activity in rented industrial buildings in the town of Ribaseca (León), as an environmentally sustainable alternative to the practice used to recover metals from cable scraps through uncontrolled incineration, applying a novel electromechanical valorization process that gave the final product obtained important quality and added value standards.

1994

RMD Barcelona is born.

RMD-Cataluña was founded in 1994, with facilities in its own industrial warehouse in Bigues i Riells (Barcelona), intended as a transfer center for metallic raw materials and small-scale electromechanical recovery.

1997

New Activity, Tire Recycling.

Con la misma visión y claridad con la que se acometió el proyecto inicial de recuperación de cables y ya un amplio conocimiento del sector del reciclaje, en 1997 se decide diversificar la actividad para no depender de las fluctuaciones de los mercados de metales, y se decide apostar por la valorización de otros residuos que en ese momento la sociedad industrializada no ha sabido ni sabe darle una solución medioambientalmente sostenible. Se acomete un ambicioso proyecto de I+D relacionado con el reciclado de polímeros y elastómeros, basado esencialmente en la valorización de neumáticos fuera de uso (NFUs) y la búsqueda de aplicaciones del material reciclado obtenido. Naciendo de esta manera en RMD dos nuevas áreas de negocio: una industrial que aportará soluciones claras y eficaces al cumplimiento de los objetivos ecológicos establecidos en el Ordenamiento Jurídico Español, reciclado NFUs para la obtención de granallas de caucho de distintas aplicaciones, y otra tecnológica en la que RMD diseña, fabrica y comercializa máquinas y procesos destinados a las distintas áreas del reciclado

2000

New Facilities in León.

In 1998 the decision was made to expand the Company's productive capacity, adapting it to new recycling technologies, which necessarily entail having infrastructures and facilities in line with the projected industrial expansion, taking into account that Ribaseca facilities do not meet those expectations. Between 1999 and 2000, the current factory in Ardoncino was built on a surface area of ​​115,000 m2 and an initial occupation of 50,000 m2, and in 2000 the activity was transferred to the new plant, which has an industrial warehouse of 4,300 m2 and two office buildings and changing rooms with a total area of ​​850 m2; the industrial complex being destined to the management and recovery of cable waste, plastics and rubber waste and end-of-life tires.

2004

Expansion and participation in other companies.

In 2004 RMD's business and international expansion was undertaken, with its participation in other companies, all of them dedicated to recycling and electromechanical recovery of end-of-life tires, applying the technology and know-how provided by RMD.
