On July 1, 2016, Rentech Boiler Systems of Abilene, Texas, marked its 20th anniversary as a global leader in the boiler manufacturing industry. Mark Colman, vice president for operations since 2005, will now lead the company as its new president beginning its third decade of service.
Jack Rentz, founder, president and board chairman for Rentech, will remain as board chairman.
Rentech, which was founded in 1996, custom designs and builds boilers for the petro-chemical, refining, power generation and other heavy industries. The company has customers across the U.S., Canada and 30 other countries. Rentech is the only privately held industrial boiler manufacturer in the U.S.
“Mark has led our company through several years of growth in both sales and profitability,” Rentz said, “and he will take us to the next level as we continue to grow. We are very fortunate to have him.”
Colman has an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and an M.B.A. from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He serves on the Board of Directors for the American Boiler Manufacturers Association.
Rentech Boiler Systems employs 90 people, including 25 degreed engineers. Rentech and its two associated companies, Rentech Boiler Services and Frontier Welded Products, together employ 402 people. The companies occupy about 179,000 square feet of indoor manufacturing space at their 80-acre headquarters. The company is a member of American Boiler Manufacturers Association (ABMA).
A graduate of Texas Tech University, Rentz is a former chairman of the ABMA Board of Directors. In 2011 he was named a distinguished alumnus of the Whitacre College of Engineering at Texas Tech.
