The Recan Foundation was founded in 2005 by Ball Packaging Europe, a company that produces beverage cans. From the very beginning, the foundation's goal is to promote the importance of environmental protection, raise awareness of the need for can recycling and educate consumers whose goal is to include can recycling as a final and common way of behaving.
The Recan Foundation works through several parallel projects throughout the year: festivals we participate in, school projects where we reward schools that collect a large number of cans, locations that can be connected to our network.
The program of free collection of used drinking cans is implemented in offices, schools and catering facilities. This program enables free receipt of boxes, bags and educational leaflets, as well as the possibility of connecting with an authorized recycler in case of desire to purchase the collected quantities.
So far, we have collected over 6,000,000 cans or 75 tons. For the previous 3 years, over one million dinars have been donated for humanitarian purposes only through collected cans.
We are present at festivals: Exit, Lovefest, Belgrade Beerfest, Festival 84, Belgrade Manifesto, Supernatural, Sea Dance, Sea Star, Dev9t, Games.com, Fresh Wave Festival, Ok festival, 2Hot4Stage, Metal days, Balkantube.
Since 2017, we have been implementing the Every Can Counts program, a project that we are implementing in Montenegro in addition to Serbia, and it is spread in 13 other European countries.
