QCP – Quality Circular Polymers – was founded in April 2014 by Huub Meessen, Marc Houtermans and Raf Bemelmans, entrepreneurs who won their spurs in the petrochemical industry. They founded QCP with a clear belief to do things differently when it comes to plastics. A wonderful opportunity to give plastic waste a second life.
In collaboration with strategic investors, SUEZ, LIOF and Chemelot Ventures a new plastic recycling plant was built in Sittard-Geleen with the support of the Province of Limburg, the Limburgs Energie Fonds and the municipality of Sittard-Geleen.
QCP is located on the Chemelot industrial site, a strategic location with respect to R&D facilities for the development and production of polymers. In the heart of Western Europe with good access to road, rail and waterway connections.
This new plant started production end of 2015 and is producing High-Density PolyEthylene (HDPE) and PolyPropylene (PP) ‘compounds’. Special mixtures based on household plastic waste that can replace new plastics in typical applications like bottles, buckets, caps & closures but also in baby buggy and suitcases.
In 2018, QCP became a Joint Venture between two stock exchange-listed companies; SUEZ (EPA: SEV) and LyondellBasell (NYSE: LYB), a unique cooperation between a leading global waste management company and one of the largest petrochemical companies for the production of plastics.
