Promet Steel, Inc. was founded in East Chicago, IN in 1995 by Nick Laphen and Pete Egle. With more than 50 years combined experience in the steel industry, Nick and Pete grew Promet and moved to a larger 55,000 square foot facility on the south side of Chicago in 1999. In 2005 Promet purchased Suburban Steel Supply in Frankfort, IL and now owns and operates the 25,000 square foot building. Promet is strategically located with both buildings in close proximity to major interstates and domestic mills. Promet’s target markets consist of but are not limited to, building stud, stamping, roll forming, construction products, expanded metal, and perforating industries.

1995 Humble Beginnings

Promet Steel, Inc. was founded in East Chicago, IN in 1995 by Nick Laphen and Pete Egle.

1999 Chicago Facility

Promet moved to a larger 55,000 square foot facility on the south side of Chicago.

2005 Suburban Steel Supply

Promet purchased Suburban Steel Supply in Frankfort, IL and now owns and operates the 25,000 square foot building.

2018 New Headquarters

With continued growth, Promet moved their headquarters to Frankfort, Illinois.
