Prentiss County Electric Power Association exist to serve our members with safe, reliable, and convenient electricity at the lowest possible cost.
We are more than just a power provider. The employees, management, and board members are committed to helping the communities we serve in other ways as well. We are actively involved in projects that help improve the quality of life for our members. Service as civic leaders, in our local churches, as coaches and referees for youth sports, and as volunteers for parent-teacher organizations and other school activities are just a few ways our people care for this community. We are committed to our communities because we live here, too.
Mission: We exist to serve our members with safe, reliable, and convenient electricity at the lowest possible cost.
What is a Cooperative: Prentiss County Electric Power Association is a not-for-profit cooperative owned by its members. Originally, cooperatives served rural areas not profitable enough for investor-owned utilities.
Investor-owned: Utilities like Duke Power, Entergy, and Mississippi Power Company are owned by investors who, like all investors, expect a return on their investment.
Municipals: Some cities have their own electric systems. Generally they have the highest density of consumers and sales.
What You Don't Know About Surge and Lightning Protection Will Shock You!
Lightning and power surges can strike at any moment and can destroy or cause expensive damage to your sensitive electronics and appliances. Being prepared for these unexpected surges and spikes can make a big difference in protecting your appliances and equipment.
Lightning is often the cause of power surges, but other factors such as birds, squirrels, and trees interfering with power lines can cause a power surge. Construction work, demand fluctuations in your home, auto accidents involving utility poles, and even disturbances transmitted through telephone and cable lines can have the same effect.
We want to help shield your electronics and appliances with our affordable surge protection program. Let us start protecting your home electronics and appliances today by installing a Surge Suppressor at your power entrance (weather head). For more information and prices, call a Member Services Representative at your local Prentiss County Electric Power Association office, Baldwyn 662-365-7161, Booneville 662-728-4433.
You might want to also purchase Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) units for personal computers and purchase power strips with surge protection built-in at your local electronics store for other electronic appliances. The surge protectors come in different sizes. The higher the Joules Rating the better at stopping surges.
