About Company

In 1980 Adair and Mitch purchased 38 acres in Strathmore, CA which became our first decomposed granite pit. After Mitch received his contractors license in 1982 they began excavation, selling DG for just $1.50 per ton.

In 1990 the ground where our rock plant stands today was purchased. Then a small rock plant with a 92-95 small jaw crusher and roll crusher. It was a Hewitt Robins Twin Apache plant with a primary screen jaw and farris wheel conveyor. It produced 50-60 tons an hour. Today our plant can produce 800 tons per hour.

We began excavating with a machine purchased from Lawless River Rock, allowing the material to flow through our original wash plant which is still running today. The ground around the plant sustained our operation for five years. We then moved to our natural pit a couple miles up the road.

Over the years we have expanded to multiple locations, including a black shale rock and a basalt rock quarry which we like to call Red Rock.

In 1991, Mitch met his beautiful wife of 23 years and new business partner. Together they worked very hard to establish and grow the company to what it is now.

Today Porterville Rock and Recycle functions along with two sister companies Mitchell Brown General Engineering and Mitch Brown Construction to offer premiere aggregates and construction services in the south valley.

Of course all of our families success couldnt have came with out the numerous wonderful employees we've had and that are still with us. Without their dedication and passion for this business none of this would have been possible.

Our family tradition is continuing on with Mitchs' daughter Lauryn and son Ryan. After graduating from Kansas State University, Lauryn, joined Liz in the office as an administrative assistant. In the summer of 2016 Ryan graduated from high school, received his Class A license and now lowbeds equipment for all three companies.

Along with Mitchs' kids, Liz's father and brother, Chuck Sr. and Chuck Jr. work with the company as mechanics. Sammie, Mitch's sister, also works in the office. Its true family business!
