Plastikos, Inc. was founded in 1989 by Timothy Katen and David Mead (co-owners of Micro Mold, Co. Inc.) along with Gary McConnell (junior partner) in the Enterprise Development Center of Erie County.

Over the next few years, the company grew steadily, adding corresponding employees and manufacturing space to accommodate the needs of its customers. In 1991, Bill Fogleboch (junior partner) joined the list of owners, and in 1995 Plastikos moved into its current state-of-the-art manufacturing facility on Hawthorne Drive which was initially built to accommodate eight injection molding presses.

The company continued to grow organically, which resulted in two subsequent additions to the initial building on Hawthorne Drive, and expansion from eight to sixteen and finally to a total twenty-seven presses. After fifteen years of service, Gary McConnell announced his desire to retire from Plastikos in January 2004. Plastikos expanded its manufacturing capacity by adopting a 24 x 7 production schedule in April of 2006 to maintain pace with its customers’ continued production requirements.

Rob Cooney was promoted to Manufacturing Manager on July 1, 2006. Three years after Gary’s retirement, Bill Fogleboch followed suit, and announced his retirement effective at the end of February 2007. Philip Katen assumed the role of General Manager on March 1, 2007. At the same time, Matthew Mead and Ryan Katen became the Project Manager and Engineering Manager, respectively. The list of owners expanded once again on November 7, 2007, when Philip Katen, Matthew Mead, Ryan Katen, and Rob Cooney (junior partners) were added to the partnership with Dave Mead and Tim Katen (senior partners).

Today, Plastikos is a world-class custom injection molder that continues to push the technical boundaries of the plastics industry. Our staff is dedicated to make your project a success.
