Our recycling facility is state-of-the-art, and we were the first company of our kind to invest in such sophisticated machinery in this country.

Our machines were the first of their kind in the country and we have two semi-automated picking lines for separating waste. Waste arriving on site is sorted mechanically and by hand to separate materials such as concrete, wood, metal, plastics and soil. We process wood, concrete and soils on-site to put recycled products back into circulation.

FAMILY BUSINESS

Pinden is a family owned and operated firm, with five relatives across four generations helping to oversee the day-to-day running of the business.

In 2004 The Bishop family acquired Pinden quarry and formed Pinden Limited. Pinden Limited joined a group of companies that included the prominent demolition company Syd Bishop & Sons Limited. Syd Bishop's was originally formed in 1929 by Syd Bishop.

Terry and Steve Bishop are the owner Directors that oversee the Pinden operation. Terry is a second generation family member and Steve is part of the 3rd generation. Pinden also has within its ranks 4th generation members. Michael Bishop is charged with the operating of Pinden. Stephanie and Jack Bishop are also part of the 4th generation and are becoming increasingly vital to the operation.

We are accredited to the three major international standards: ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. Quality control for our waste management business starts from the moment the waste arrives at our waste transfer station. We have invested heavily in automating our picking stations, enabling mechanised sorting of many materials.

Our recycled aggregate is produced in accordance with the WRAP Quality Protocol, which provides confidence that our products meet common aggregate standards. All our recycled materials and soils are analysed and graded on a regular basis by an independent external UKAS accredited laboratory and we can provide customers with detailed analyses on request.
