OVADE, a bio-energy recovery plant for household waste, treats and transforms through mechanical-biological sorting and an anaerobic digestion-composting process, the household waste of nearly 338,000 inhabitants of the department of Ain. This innovative equipment allows waste to be separated according to its nature thanks to extensive sorting. The recovered organic matter is then treated by methanization to obtain biogas, a source of energy, and to produce compost that can be used in agriculture.

AN IMPORTANT OBJECTIVE OF VALUATION

Recover organic waste and reduce the quantities of residues intended for landfill, in accordance with the framework directive

European Union of 2008 and the laws of 2009 and 2010 known as Grenelle de l'Environnement 1 and 2. In addition, the law on energy transition for green growth of July 2015 aims to reduce the production of household and similar waste by 10%. by 2020, and a 50% reduction in waste storage by 2025.

A COMMITTED PARTNERSHIP

The OVADE plant was born out of a partnership between ORGANOM, the intercommunal waste treatment and recovery union, responsible for the management of the plant, and the intercommunal members of the union, representing 193 municipalities. All are committed to a waste prevention and reduction program for the overall benefit of member municipalities and their inhabitants.

OVADE has taken up residence at the La Tienne site in Viriat. The environmental management of the site includes the prevention of risks and pollution, appropriate arrangements and the consideration and monitoring of discharges and odor and noise pollution. It also demonstrates the union’s determination to promote waste treatment solutions that respect the environment and the living environment of residents.

OVADE is the result of a collaborative project whose key to success lies in the involvement of everyone: from the communities of municipalities to the inhabitants in their daily sorting.
