Ohio Cumberland Gas Company is a privately owned natural gas public utility. Formerly known as the Upham Gas Company, it was established in 1906, changed ownership in 1944, and subsequently was purchased in 1980 by the Ramser family. Mark R. Ramser is currently the president of the company.
As a public utility, Ohio Cumberland is subject to the supervision and jurisdiction of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and the United States Department of Transportation.
Ohio Cumberland currently has over 300 miles of gathering and distribution lines serving parts of Knox, Ashland, Coshocton, Holmes, Licking, Morrow and Richland counties. We serve about 1900 residential, commercial and industrial customers.
About 50% of the gas distributed is obtained from local production sources while the balance is transported by Columbia Gas Transmission Corporation.
Ohio Cumberland encourages new customer connections in our service area for new facilities or when converting existing facilities from another heat source. To obtain an application for new natural gas service, please contact our office at 740-392-2941.
If you are moving and transferring service into your name or moving out of a home or other facility with our service, please contact our office at 740-392-2941 to schedule a meter reading and transfer of service. Ohio Cumberland obtains an actual meter reading when service is transferred. Please notify us at least one working day prior to transfer to schedule a meter reading.
