Fred and Lois Norton opened the doors of Norton’s Jewellers in 1974 – bringing with him over 30 years of experience in jewellery and watch repair, serving the Island community. His son Peter joined the store in 1979 after attending University. Unfortunately shortly thereafter Fred passed away suddenly. While Peter studied Jewellery Arts at the George Brown College in Toronto, Peter’s older brother Bruce and his mother Lois, stepped in. Younger siblings Jennifer and Reid also helped out during this difficult period. Subsequently Bruce pursued teaching, and Jennifer and Reid also pursued other careers, while Peter remained in the business. Peter’s son Craig came aboard in 2013 and is currently honing his goldsmithing skills and studying Gemological Institute of America courses. Craig also has a passion for design and will be mastering the recently purchased CAD (computer-aided design) software. Although retired, Lois still pops in occasionally. Over forty years and three generations later, the tradition continues
