Northern Precision Products is a Michigan-based, high-performance multi-spindle automatic screw machine shop that primarily serves the global transportation industry. Founded in 1985 as a joint venture with a Tier One automotive supplier, the company initially focused exclusively on supplying power train sensor housings to that customer. Over time, NPP added more customers’ components, machining capacity, key staff and technology.

In 2004 NPP was sold to a new ownership/management group who brought a low-bureaucracy approach to servicing customers’ needs, a new company culture, and an infusion of capital. Numerous upgrades soon followed: updated information systems, equipment additions, adoption of Lean Manufacturing, an operator apprentice program, a building expansion, and many others. The goal was to build a high-quality, customer-centric model of excellence.

Over the years we have built a management team with significant experience in several different industries, not just machined components and not confined by rigid family management practices prevalent in our industry. This diversity of backgrounds and open-minded management philosophy has led to a “cross-pollination” of innovative improvement ideas.
