History of NLR, Inc
After 18 years in the electrical supply industry NLR’s President Raymond Graczyk recognized a need for responsible recycling of used mercury-containing fluorescent lamps. Together, with Vice President Robert E. Robert Northeast Lamp Recycling, Inc. was formed in 1994 and permitted in 1996. Early on, Northeast Lamp Recycling focused exclusively on the recycling of mercury-containing lamps and bulbs however quickly evolved to all products associated with the lighting industry.
The company was at the time and is still, Connecticut’s first and only DEEP-permitted lamp recycling facility. In nearly 25 years, NLR, Inc. has steadily expanded to service customers with their fleet of trucks from Maine to Maryland, and from Connecticut to California with the national mail back program: BakPak.
As sustainability continued to be an immeasurable for businesses that produce regulatory waste, NLR expanded services to include programs for end-of-life electronics (E-Waste), batteries, PCB and non-PCB lighting ballasts, mercury devices, as well as lab pack environmental solutions.
In 2008, 2009 & 2010 NLR was honored on Inc. 5000’s list of fastest growing companies in the United States and is a two-time recipient of the Department of Environmental Protection’s GreenCircle award for excellence in universal waste recycling. Other numerous awards and honors are on display at their corporate offices in East Windsor, CT.
