The Challenge
During normal oil and gas well operation, it is common practice to flare excess gas in the production tank, often referred to as “flash gas.” However, when the gas pressure in the tank becomes too high, it may be necessary to vent the gas, releasing methane and other volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) directly into the atmosphere. These emissions are increasingly regulated. At the same time, oil and gas companies want to be good neighbors, and are continually looking to reduce their environmental footprint. Reducing methane and VOC emissions is particularly challenging in low producing wells. These wells are often remotely located without access to power, making traditional methods of emissions control impractical.

Vapor Capture Process & Design
The V3RU™ captures a large volume of the vapor generated during well cycling. This significantly reduces pressure in the production storage tank, or flash gas, to below the venting threshold. The system also enables the combustion device to operate within specification, ensuring maximum VOC destruction.
The heart of the V3RU™ is a variable volume accumulator that stores the excess vapor until the well cycle completes and the surge in pressure subsides. The vapor capture device is constructed of a military-grade, fuel-storage membrane and meets rigorous quality standards.
