From a simple blacksmith shop to a 1.1-million-square-foot manufacturing complex. From two workers to nearly 500 employees. From one product to hundreds of heavy equipment designs. These are some of the important milestones in the remarkable history of the company known as Morbark.
The year was 1957 when Norval Morey, a local sawmill operator, took the first risky step into manufacturing armed with a patent for a portable pulp wood debarker. The Morbark Debarker Company was born that year, and nobody in Winn, Michigan, could have predicted the growth that the company would experience over the next five decades.
Morbark, Inc., based in Winn, Michigan, builds equipment that creates opportunities for customers serving the forestry, recycling, sawmill, biomass, landscaping/irrigation, rental and tree care markets. Innovating and building durable and high-performance equipment for more than 50 years, Morbark offers a full line of flails, disc and drum tree chippers, brush chippers, horizontal and tub grinders, stump grinders and more. Morbark equipment helps customers harvest, process and convert organic materials into valuable, usable and environmentally sound products. The company offers worldwide sales, support and service through an independent, authorized dealer network.
Looking to leverage the company’s ever-expanding capabilities in product development, manufacturing, and dealer distribution, Morbark acquired the Boxer Equipment line of mini-skid steers in December 2012. The line of mini-skid steers includes a dedicated trencher, and a 300, 500, and now a 900 series that are built to handle a full complement of more than 50 universal compact utility attachments. The acquisition not only enhances opportunities in Morbark’s existing tree service and rental markets, but also allows Morbark to expand their market presence and current equipment offerings to a broader range of industries and end users, including, but not limited to, landscapers, irrigation and trenching contractors, property owners, and general contractors of all sizes.
With more than 50 years of ideas, invention and phenomenal growth, Morbark is recognized as a world-class manufacturing company with world-wide markets, and a reputation for designing and building robust, rugged and reliable heavy equipment.
Morbark’s Quality Policy
By fully understanding the requirements of our jobs, we will provide defect-free products and services that conform to the requirements of our customers, suppliers and co-workers on time, every time.
Construction and Demolition recycling in the 21st century is a lucrative and important industry. Recycling is not only very beneficial to our society, but is also extremely relevant and is gaining industry-favorable government regulations.
Marketable items include:
- Asphalt Shingles
- Wood Waste
- Old Corrugated Cardboard
- Plastics
- Concrete/Asphalt
- Metals
- Gypsum
Different recyclable inputs have different processes, however, they’re similar in that value is added when contaminants are sorted out and particle size is uniform.
Whether you’re recycling shingles, paper, or wood waste, you are doing your part to reduce landfill waste, keep our neighborhoods clean, and input value into items that are considered wasteful. With today’s technology, these items can be reused and can compete against newly manufactured items, which is ultimately a win for everyone.
