We're a scrap metal dealer established in 1911, with a long history of honesty, integrity and fair dealing. We're professional and thorough and based on Stoke on Trent; we're the only metal recycler between Manchester and Birmingham to be accredited to ISO 9001:2008Our aim is to provide an open, honest, quality scrap metal and waste recycling service at a decent price.Our operations are located at two sites in Stoke on Trent, both fully licensed by the Environment Agency. We’ve an impressive array of processing plant and machinery that enables us to provide a first- class recycling service on an extensive range of metals and other materials.Our services include recycling of metals, batteries, WEEE, ELVs, paper, plastic, cardboard and timber. We provide a fully integrated waste management service to our customers, including general waste collections, waste audits and environmental compliance services;

Here at Moores Metals Our Values and Beliefs are at the very core of our business and we’d like to share them with you:

  • To continually look to offer added value to increase the value of our services to our customers

We accept all grades of iron and steel from mum’s old washing machine to the old banger, Of course we also take higher grade, single source, scrap metals from manufacturing industries throughout the Midlands.

There are various grades of iron and steel, light iron, No1, No2, cuttings, plate and girder, turnings etc. We accept all grades and can process and store the various materials to ensure that we can give the best price for your scrap. What you may not realise is that other scrap merchants, may not be able to do this and in some cases may even be transporting your scrap un-sorted and un-processed to us and the price you’ll receive may not be the best you can get. Why not cut out the middleman and call us for a price?We’re open to members of the public as well as having some major corporations as customers such as Sainsbury’s and JCB. We’re proud of our service and have built up longstanding relationships with many of our customers, big and small.For larger scrap producers, we provide a collection service providing skips or containers free of charge as part of the service. The range includes low sided containers for construction or heavy waste, as well as compactors for static compactor machines for light industrial waste.

The average household uses 21 batteries a year. The UK generates 20,000 - 30,000 tonnes of waste general purpose batteries every year, but less than 1,000 tonnes are recycled. The rest of Europe does significantly better than the UK, with Belgium topping the league with a 59% recycling rate for batteries.

There are a number of different types of household batteries used for a variety of purposes.

All waste batteries are hazardous and there is stringent legislation governing their handling, storage, transport and disposal.

There are three main types of battery and Moores Recycling can provide a collection and recycling service on all of the following:

  • Wet-cell: Lead acid batteries used to power vehicles and by industry.
  • Zinc carbon & Zinc Chloride
  • Alkaline Manganese
  • Button cells:
  • Dry-cell rechargeable:
  • Nickel cadmium (NiCd)
  • Nickel metal hydride (NiMH)
  • Lithium ion (Li-Ion)
