MLP Specialty Metals operates two distinct divisions: Our Fayette wire division, located in Scottdale, PA, and Laurel Steel, located in Everson, PA. These divisions have been part of the MLP Specialty Metals family for 28 years.

HISTORY

The Fayette wire division was founded in 1967 as a steel wire drawing facility utilizing hot rolled rod to produce a wide range of various size sections including: rounds, flats, hexagons, squares, and other special shapes in both coil and straight lengths for consumer and industrial applications. Today, Fayette wire manufacturers various grades of nonferrous and ferrous grades of alloy, low carbon and high carbon steel wire in rounds and special shapes. The Company’s location and capabilities allow it to be a niche player in an industry centered around commoditized products, which can be produced in a coil or straightened and cut to length.

The Laurel Steel division was founded in 1981 as a manufacturer of various types of grating, including: walkway grating, roadway grating, inlet grating, and miscellaneous types of steel grating. Since then, Laurel Steel has become one of the market’s premier manufacturers of heavy-duty steel bar grating and has supplied quality products for many major commercial and industrial installations nationwide. Laurel Steel has developed a reputation for quality products, on-time deliveries, and competitive pricing.
