MIROM Roeselare is a waste intermunicipal company that is responsible for the prevention, collection and final processing of household waste produced in 12 cities and municipalities. A board with representatives from those municipalities helps to formulate the policy.

MIROM Roeselare strives for a parallel waste policy in the working area of ​​12 cities and municipalities. The Materials Decree of the Flemish government is central to this policy. One of the basic principles is the priority ladder that shows how we should deal with waste. Waste prevention, reuse, recycling, incineration with energy recovery and landfill are arranged on the steps from top to bottom. The higher up the ladder, the more environmentally friendly. Besides the collection of waste at home, the waste collection at the recycling parks and certain delivery points, MIROM Roeselare also works on waste prevention, litter and illegal dumping projects (eg cameras). MIROM Roeselare has its own incineratorin which 185,000 kg of residual waste is incinerated in an environmentally responsible manner every working day. The heat released during the incineration of the waste is usefully applied via a heat network with a length of 19 km. The residual heat from this grid is converted into electricity via an ORC. MIROM Roeselare is, among other things, a member of Belgian Waste to Energ y, an organization that bundles all processing installations with energy recovery.
