MiNiMiS PHILOSOPHY
Creative recycling of glass waste and glass bottles into small works of art.
MiNiMiS is a business initiative of Mi rella and Ni col Misfoot .
We are two sisters born in 1988, Nicole and in 1991, Mirella, raised on the island of Corfu. With the tireless and enthusiastic support of our mother for the creation of art objects from recyclable materials, we started in 2013 to realize our dream.
The idea of creative recycling came to us in 2013 when we realized that we had to heal two big wounds in relation to the waste that weighed on our consciences. The first big problem was that there were no structures on our island for waste sorting and recycling. Unimaginable numbers in tons of waste ended up, until very recently, in landfills which cause terrible problems in the subsoil and in the aquifer of the whole island even today. As a result of this event, the waste of the glass processing plant maintained by our family since 1980 (called Corfu Glass), which is the largest in Corfu, inevitably ended up in the large landfills of the island.
With the support of the whole family we decided to collect part of the glass bottles of the island as well as part of the factory urn and turn them into creatively recycled works of art in the form of jewelry and useful objects.
The mission of MiNiMiS is to inspire people and start a conversation, so that it contributes to the circular economy and raises respect for our planet, and the materials we bring to it. We hope through our work to inspire more people to recycle and work professionally through ideas that can offer more than just a consumable product.
"We want thinking people to stop allowing products to become waste after use and instead re-enter a creative production cycle."
